Mona Awad is a critically acclaimed author, writer, and educator. Born in Montreal, she now resides in the US, where she has established herself as a prominent voice in contemporary literature. Her debut novel, 13 WAYS OF LOOKING AT A FAT GIRL, published to widespread acclaim in 2016 (Penguin Books), won the Amazon Best First Novel award and earned a Giller Prize shortlist nomination, as well as a longlist spot for the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour. Her subsequent novel, BUNNY, was released in 2019 by Viking. Her writing has appeared in various publications, including McSweeney's, TIME magazine, Electric Literature, and The Walrus. Awad has held numerous positions, including instructor at Brown University's Literary Arts department and freelance journalist, and has worked as a bookseller for independent bookstores.
