William Le Queux Books in Order
William Tufnell Le Queux is a British author and journalist, born in London on July 2, 1864. Educated in Europe, he studied art under Ignazio Spiridon in Paris and honed his writing skills by contributing to French newspapers. His sensational stories, including one published in 'The Petit Journal', caught the attention of French novelist Emile Zola, who encouraged Le Queux to become a full-time writer. Returning to London in the late 1880s, Le Queux edited magazines 'Gossip' and 'Piccadilly', then joined 'The Globe' as a parliamentary reporter before resigning in 1893 to focus on writing and travel. His extensive journeys took him to Russia, the Near East, North Africa, Egypt, and the Sudan, and he covered the Balkan War as a correspondent for the Daily Mail in 1912-13. A skilled revolver shot, Le Queux is best known for his novels, which include 'Guilty Bonds' (1891) and 'Strange Tales of a Nihilist' (1892). He went on to produce numerous books throughout his life and beyond, with many posthumous works published after his death.
