Tanith Lee is a renowned British writer of science fiction, horror, and fantasy. She is the prolific author of 77 novels, 14 collections, and nearly 300 short stories, as well as four radio plays broadcast by the BBC and two scripts for the cult television series "Blake's 7". After working various part-time jobs as a file clerk, assistant librarian, shop assistant, and waitress, Lee began her writing career with the publication of her first short story, "Eustace", in 1968, followed by her first novel, "The Dragon Hoard", in 1971. Her breakthrough came in 1975 with the publication of "The Birthgrave" by Daw Books USA, launching her successful career in popular genre writing. Lee is a two-time World Fantasy Award winner, recognised for her excellence in short fiction in 1983 and 1984. She has been a Guest of Honour at numerous conventions, including Boskone XVIII, the World Fantasy Convention, and Orbital 2008. In 2009, Lee was awarded the Grand Master of Horror title, a prestigious recognition of her contributions to the horror genre.
