Ray Bradbury Books in Order

Ray Bradbury is a visionary American novelist, short story writer, essayist, playwright, screenwriter, and poet. Born August 22, 1920, in Waukegan, Illinois, Bradbury's writing career began early, as he spent his nights in the public library and his days at the typewriter after graduating from a Los Angeles high school in 1938. He eventually became a full-time writer in 1943, contributing numerous short stories to periodicals before publishing his first collection, Dark Carnival, in 1947. His reputation as a writer of courage and vision was cemented with the publication of The Martian Chronicles in 1950, which explores the unintended consequences of Earth's attempts to conquer and colonize Mars. This was followed by The Illustrated Man and Fahrenheit 451 in 1953, a scathing indictment of censorship set in a future world where the written word is forbidden.
