Alba de Céspedes is a renowned Cuban-Italian writer, born into a family with a rich history. She is the daughter of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes y Quesada, a former President of Cuba, and his Italian wife, Laura Bertini y Alessandri. As a member of a prominent family, her lineage includes her grandfather Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and Perucho Figueredo, a distant cousin. De Céspedes' writing career spans multiple mediums, including journalism, where she worked for prominent publications such as Piccolo, Epoca, and La Stampa in the 1930s. She is the author of several notable novels, including L’Anima Degli Altri, Nessuno Torna Indietro, and La Fuga, which garnered international attention and censorship due to her anti-fascist views. Her unwavering commitment to her convictions led to multiple imprisonments, including her assistance with Radio Partigiana in Bari during World War II.
